“Do I really have to meditate?” Robin pouted when Quinn told him it was time to stretch and meditate after dinner an hour later.

Quinn shook his head. “You know what? Stretch then sit quietly for a while. I don’t care if you meditate, just try to not think about too many things at once. This kind of meditation might not be right for you, but I need it.”

He settled into his spot in the middle of the living room floor, resting his hands on his thighs. Taking deep breaths, Quinn slowly relaxed each muscle group until all his tension had eased away. Quinn listened to his heart beating and felt the expansion of his chest with each breath in and the collapse with each exhale. It gave him comfort to know all of his body seemed to be working the way it should be. Even the residual aches from the sex made him happy.

Surprisingly Robin managed to stay still for twenty minutes, which was a record for him. When he started twitching, Quinn inhaled and exhaled twice before opening his eyes. He smiled at Robin, who was staring at him like he was memorizing every inch of Quinn’s face.

“Are you Greek?”

Blinking at the random question, Quinn thought for a minute. “We must be since our last name is Damaris. I don’t know. My parents died when I was two and Morgan was four. He has a few memories of them, but I don’t have any. We didn’t have any family to take us in, so we stayed in the foster system. When Morgan turned eighteen, he joined the military and left.”

“Why did he do that? How could he leave you behind?” Robin looked indignant at what he saw as Quinn’s abandonment.

Quinn took Robin’s hand in his then tugged the man over to sit at his side. “He left me because right then he had no home for me or any way to support me. I was in a good foster home, so he knew I’d be okay until he could send for me. The day I turned eighteen, he showed up at my doorstep to get me. What I didn’t know, and neither did he until he reached twenty, was that our parents had a trust fund for us. We might not remember them but it was obvious they loved us. A lawyer found him and let him know about it. It was enough for us to buy a house in Colorado that I used as my base of operations, though I traveled the world in search of another dangerous sport I could try.”

“So you’re rich?” Robin teased.

“Not even. I worked a hundred different seasonal jobs wherever I was at the time to get enough money to do whatever it was I wanted to risk my life at.” He rubbed his fingers over Robin’s knuckles.

Robin took a breath and Quinn knew what was coming. He was surprised that they hadn’t talked about it before.

“How did it happen?” Robin barely touched Quinn’s stumps as he asked.
